0400 Wake ups

Ok. So I am in my training unit. It sucks. I just had some DAP (dumb @ss private) bang on our door and flip the lights on and tell us to wake up. Im pretty sure that is asking for death when you tell a room full of sergeants and specialists to wake up. Basically, Ft. Sill sucks, and I can’t wait for the next 6 weeks to fly by. Hopefully I don’t have to choke out one of these privates that roll through my room like that. I’ve been to Iraq a few times man. PTSD could just come out of nowhere. You never know.

Internet at Last!!!!

Finally! I think this is the longest I have ever been without internet since its inception. And thank heavens it is lighting fast too. T1 baby. I will give a big update on my weeks happenings in the morning, but basically this last week has really sucked. I have been treated like a boot private up until yesterday when I finally go to my training unit. I was actually stuck in an open squad bay with basic training "soldiers" who just got out of high school and stuff acting all big and bad. Not fun. Plus….in my training unit we are not allowed to go to the gym. W T F .

Down with the sickness

Well, today is day four of my nasty cold I have been been fighting. I am not feeling as weak this morning as I have been the past couple of days, but I can hardly talk. I am reduced to a whispering whiner. I have been chugging dayquil and nyquil like its cool, but I haven’t been able to kick this thing.

I went to the gym on monday though, regardless of the snow factor. Maybe I shouldn’t have done that. Oh well.

Dave wants me to Grovel

I just got this email from our friend over at Military.com. He basically says if I grovel at his feet and apologize to him for the rules I broke, he will allow me back on his forum. No thanks. Here is his email below. Once again, here is his email address.

davem-milcom@cinci.rr.com

Read the Terms of Service, and the Discussion Forum Basics. Email me in a few days and tell me how you broke the rules. And you need to start by apologizing for your tone. We are volunteers, not corporate managers. The tone you have express, if share with management would result in a much longer suspension. There is no shame on us. Military.com has 10 million members. All are expected to follow the same rules. We are not controlled by the US Government. We do help people, but with an attitude like yours of privilege, we can not accept that tone or participation.

So, I will reduce your suspension to one week if you read the rules (Terms of Service that you agreed to and Forum Discussion Basics by our boss) and tell me what ones you broke, including you tone to Bruce and myself. If not all of your emails will be included in the record, and I will extend your suspension until you do so.

Just an FYI, in the several years I have been a mod, management (there are at least 3 layers above me) has never reversed my decision. That includes cases where people have contacted the “Home Office”

Banned from Military.com Forums!

Yesterday, I was temporarily banned and today permanently banned from the Military.com member forums. There was a member in the Health and Fitness subforum that asked if anybody could share their workout routines with him and tips on how to lose weight and build muscle. I wrote a very nice reply that I will post below

You didn’t mention if you were male or female. If you are male, you might want to check out The Alpha Male Challenge. It is a comprehensive 10 week plan that includes a work out routine 3 days a week for the whole 10 weeks. It is all about how to eat, think, act, and be the man that you really are, and it is a great way for anybody to start on their healthy journey.

Heck, I have even heard of women using this plan. It includes a diet plan too, including a two week stretch where you have the “Spartan Diet” just like those hard bodies you saw in 300. You can get this book at any store and online at Amazon.

Check out my blog
<< Mod Note – Link removed per Terms of Service >> to see how I lost 25 pounds using this book, and now how I am trying to use the same plan to gain muscle mass.

So then I emailed the guy asking him WTF. He replies telling me that I am basically using a corporate website to advertise myself, and the my suspension is now permenent. Here is the email chain.

———————My initial email —————————————————–

Dave,
I am a brand new member on the forum section  for Military.com. As I am a member of dozens of forum sites, I don’t always take the time to read the discussion board rules. This is the first forum I have ever been to where we were not allowed to put outside links. That seems very close minded to me that you would have such a rule, and if that is the case, I would rather not be a member. As a Marine veteran (and soon to be soldier) who has fought for freedom in this country, you just gave me a prime example of how polluted this country has become with people like you who have no respect for others freedom of speech. I hope you are feeling good about yourself.

Regards,
Adam Crum

I do not make the rules. We have corporate owners who set the policy at HQ. Most of the moderators are veterans, some active duty, and many retired. You agreed to a contract when you signed up. Freedom of speech is a government rule, not a private sector rule. As a company, we have the right to control the use of company property. You fought for those rights also. All of the social networking sites maintain the right to edit material that violates their rules, and to suspend accounts. We are a large organization, owned by a publicly listed company. You used our property to promote yourself. That is not a reasonable use of someones assets. I will be making your suspension permanent.

I have sent a CC to CWO Bruce Love, USA Retired.

——————My Response—————————————

Excuse me Dave,
I am a Marine Veteran and future Army Soldier who needs access to the Military.com forums to talk with other members of the Armed Forces, as well as interacting with old unit buddies. Don’t you think you could have issued me at least a warning for this being my first offense of your little policy. I didn’t know. How can I be held accountable if I didn’t know. Yes, I should have looked at the posting guidlines sticky, but as I said I am a member of many forum sites and this is the first one that I have ever been to that didn’t allow external links

I can assure that if re-instated, I will abide by those rules. However, if not re-instated, I will be sure to spread the word of this ridiculous sham of a forum that this company is running. I can not believe that there are rules like that in a forum where a member asks the question about looking for workouts. What workouts am I allowed to share? Only US Military approved ones? That seems down right dirty if you ask me. You know, don’t re-instate my account. I am ashamed to have been a member of this website for so many years. Shame on the both of you, and the “corporate” leaders of a place that is supposed to help and support military members and it’s veterans.

Good Day,
Adam Crum
