Heat Index

What the heck is that anyway? Well, am I glad you asked or what? According to Wikipedia: The heat index (HI) is an index that combines air temperature and relative humidity in an attempt to determine the human-perceived equivalent temperature — how hot it feels, termed the felt air temperature.

Right… gotcha. So basically we as the sissy civilization we have become have had to create a term to better describe an idea that represents us not being able to deal with it being over 100 degrees. OMG its 100 degrees out right now but it “feels” like 105.

Thats like saying to the police officer who pulls you over, “I know that it was a red light sir… but it felt like a green light according to my color index.” Its just not going to fly. If these people who invented the HI were really that adamant about the idea, they would have created some sort of thermometer that actually “calculates” all those pretend variables and actually displays the new correct temperature.

P.S. When I was in Kuwait in 2003, I remember being on a post about 10:30 in the morning sometime in August or so. The fellow Marine I was on duty with brought a digital thermometer with him and had it sitting in the shade. It read 140+ degrees. 10AM… IN THE SHADE! And trust me, we didn’t get to stand in the shade with the thermometer. The weather here in the U.S. is SOOOOOO WONDERFULL compared to what the guys in the sand are dealing with. One more reason for you to thank a soldier, sailor, airmen, or Marine.

Is it really “Black or White”?

Don’t get me wrong, I believe myself to be a fan of Micheal Jackson, or atleast his music and who he was back when he actually was black. I remember running around the house when I was young, grabbing my croch and screaming “Ooooooooh, jamonit.” My favorite arcade game for the longest time was Micheal Jackson’s Moonwalker. My dad got all the CD’s for me, and I listened to them constantly. I still enjoy his music but I am not crazy die hard.

So what am I getting at here. Well, for the past week I have been trying to watch the news to see what is going on in our world, you know like the war in Iraq and if Korea is going to lob a nuke at us. The important things in life you know.  Every single channel, local and national are showing nothing but this funeral in Los Angeles. CNN, MSNBC, Fox, everyone. It makes me wish I had BBC. I bet they are covering American issues right now better than we are. I am disgusted with corporate America right now. For years they have been condeming this man as a little boy toucher and a criminal, which gave him just as much news coverage, but now that he is gone, they can’t get enough of him. What a circus.

It’s a boy!

It's a boy!

It's a boy!

I know its a few days late, but hey, I just created this blog yesterday. So, on Tuesday June 30th 2009, my first son was born. His name is Aeden Patrick Crum, Patrick after his Papa Pink. He was nearly 9lbs and is 20 inches tall. This kid is a real modern day tank for sure. Him and momma are doing really good now and learning how to get into a new groove. A groove which includes our daughter Allysa who is so captured by this new creature.

She absolutely loves playing with his “Little” everything. Toes, Eyes, Nose, Dome. Her favorite thing to do is give him little kisses or eat his little tummy. Aeden is a very lax baby and actually doesnt mind being held by me, whereas Allysa only wanted Mommy. I was up with him from 1:30am till about 3:30am, just holding him and loving eachother. He wasn’t fussy, just wanted to stare at daddy for a while I suppose.

I’m sure everything will change over the next few months, it always does, but for the here and now, I really don’t have any complaints. Well, atleast not about Aeden. Allysa on the other hand thought that brother being awake last night was the perfect time to be a fuss bucket, eat a bowl of cottage cheese, and scream to watch Go Diego, Go for about an hour. Thanks kid.

Hello world!

I finally decided that if I want to be credible in the IT field, I needed to finally get a real blog. I mean, I have an unlimited GoDaddy package so I can “Have as many websites as I want” right, so I better start using it. Welcome to AdamCrum.us. Yeah, the dot com was already taken by somebody who doesnt even have a site up yet, just a placeholder page. Jerk. So what am I going to do with my blog? Well, mostly just update on what I am doing, what I am learning, etc. Little bit of life events and what not. I don’t want to go to crazy with this though, and I want to keep it semi-pro with my resume and what not. I’m feeling good about this. I can’t wait to start my little blogging adventure.
